About this event

The last decade has produced a wave of rigorous clinical research on psilocybin — from landmark studies at Johns Hopkins and NYU to recent FDA breakthrough designation for PTSD and depression treatment. But what does the science actually say, and how do we make sense of it?

In this free public talk, SANCTUM founding partner Skippy Mesirow walks through the key research findings in accessible, jargon-free language. We'll look at how psilocybin interacts with the brain's default mode network, what controlled trials show about its efficacy for depression, anxiety, addiction, and end-of-life distress, and what questions remain open in the field.

This is Part 2 in SANCTUM's free four-part Education Series. No science background required — just an open mind and a willingness to look at the evidence.

Speaker

Skippy Mesirow is the former Mayor of Aspen, Colorado and a founding partner of SANCTUM Aspen. A nationally recognized psychedelic policy advocate, he spearheaded the successful passage of Colorado's Proposition 122 — the Natural Medicine Health Act — which legalized supervised psilocybin services statewide.

Drawing on his decade in elected office, his background in mental health advocacy, and his work building SANCTUM, Skippy speaks with clarity and conviction about the science, history, and future of psychedelic healing. His talks are grounded in evidence and shaped by the stories of real people whose lives have been transformed.
